Hall Lock featured on BBC News

On 8th March 2011 we were delighted to welcome BBC News to Flexicare to talk about our new innovation in providing safe connections, Hall Lock.

Working in partnership with Judith Hall from Cardiff University, Flexicare have developed the Hall Lock system as a solution to wrong-route injections.

Hall Lock is a series of connectors designed to reduce the risk of misconnections between four principle areas all of which have been documented as wrong-route connections or injections. The potential for accidental misconnection or wrong-route injections within the hospital environment is greatly increased with the multitude of ports and connectors present within a single procedure, all of which use the same luer connector.

The growing number of fatal cases of reported wrong-route injections, whether this has been intravenous drugs administered intrathecally or regional anaesthesia drugs administered intravenously has further highlighted the need to have a system whereby a misconnection is not possible.

As part of Hall Lock's launch at the BioWales conference on 4th March 2011, Flexicare and Hall Lock were featured in numerous publications. Below is a selection of articles written about Hall Lock surrounding the launch.
