PEEP Valves, Masks and
Accessories
Flexicare has developed a range of Fixed PEEP (Fixed Positive End
Expiratory Pressure) valves provided for clinicians to
prescribe a given maximum pressure for the patients requirement.
The valves are colour coded and denote the pre-determined
fixed value of PEEP.
Patients which may be suitable for
non invasive ventilation (NIV) may demonstrate:
- Acute exacerbation for COPD
- Mechanical Ventilation Weaning
- Asthmatic Patients
- Thoracic Restrictive Disease
- Acute or Chronic Respiratory Failure (including Hypoxaemic Acute
Respiratory Failure)
The PEEP valve is fitted to a specially designed CPAP mask on
the lower expiratory port to allow expired gases to be exhaled via
fixed value exhalation port.

Previously the only method for ventilation involved the patient
being sedated and intubated. However, with positive pressure,
patients with respiratory failure or lung disease can benefit from
NIV as this negates the need for intubation and the associated
risks outside of the Intensive Care department and for some
patients needing long term support, this can be administered in the
home environment as well.
The Flexicare CPAP Mask is specifically designed to create a good
seal when fitted to the patient whilst providing maximum comfort
during use. |
