Tours, France and California, USA (January 17, 2022) – TSC Endovision, a pioneer in single-use endoscopy and part of TSC Group, and Flexicare, a leading manufacturer and supplier of medical devices, announce today an exclusive partnership for the distribution of TSC Endovision’s Broncoflex, an innovative single-use bronchoscope, in the US market.

The endoscopy market landscape continues to evolve as regulatory bodies across the globe recommend single-use technology to reduce cross-contamination risk and improve patient outcomes. The latest version of the Broncoflex product range was commercially launched in European markets in 2020. The Broncoflex solution is a fully sterile, cost-effective, ergonomically designed solution, requiring only two sizes that cover all flexible bronchoscopy therapeutic indications. The Parties are thrilled to now also make this innovative technology available to US healthcare providers.

From Luc Van Schil, CEO and founder of TSC, “We are pleased to announce an exclusive partnership with Flexicare for the US market. This collaboration brings together leading-edge endoscopy technology with a high-performing and experienced commercial US organization. This will allow for a promising Broncoflex US market introduction and will support healthcare’s transition to single-use endoscopy.

With over 2.5 million bronchoscopy procedures performed each year in the US, TSC Endovision and Flexicare are well positioned to bring the Broncoflex to the largest endoscopy market and support acute care physicians with a single-use technology that will meet their flexible bronchoscopy needs.

The addition of the Broncoflex technology to the Flexicare portfolio further supports our commitment to bring innovative, high-quality technologies that meet and exceed the needs of healthcare professionals and improve patient outcomes. We are proud to partner with TSC Endovision in bringing this next level technology to the US market,” states Ghassem Poormand, CEO and founder of Flexicare.

About TSC Endovision TSC Endovision has been developing ergonomically designed, single-use flexible endoscopes for more than 10 years and the Broncoflex is currently sold in over 30 countries worldwide. The company’s ambition is to provide easy-to-use solutions adapted to the needs of health care professionals for the benefit of patients. TSC Endovision is part of The Surgical Company (TSC) Group, which is a privately owned Medtech group employing around 500 people and headquartered in The Netherlands with operations in France, Benelux, Germany and the UK.

COVID-19 | 19th March 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

With the continued spread of the COVID-19, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has now classified the virus as a pandemic. As a global manufacturer and supplier of medical devices, we have received several requests for further information on our Breathing System Filter range.

Flexicare’s range of ThermoShield and VentiShield Breathing Filters protect patients and provides an effective barrier that reduces the transmission of bacteria and viruses between respiratory equipment and the environment.

Flexicare’s Breathing System Filters have been tested for Sodium Chloride filtration efficiency by an ISO 17025 accredited third party laboratory in accordance with BS EN ISO 23328:2008 – Breathing System Filters for anaesthetic and respiratory use – Part one: Salt Test method to assess filtration performance. Testing was performed in compliance with US FDA good manufacturing practice (GMP) regulations 21 CFR Parts 210, 211 and 820.

This procedure was performed to evaluate the filtration performance of BSF. The testing was performed to comply with BS EN ISO 23328-1 (2008). The BSF was tested in the unused state as removed from the packaging and after conditioning which stimulates clinical use. Conditioning of the BSF was performed by exposing the filter to one of various positions on a conditioning apparatus prior to filtration efficiency testing.

A neutralised poly-dispersed aerosol of sodium chloride (NaCl) was generated and passed through the test article. The performance of the BSF was assessed by measuring the concentration of salt particles penetrating the BSF compared to the challenge concentration entering the BSF. The filtration performance and airflow resistance of each test article were calculated.

All test method acceptance criteria were met. Further information on individual filter performance can be provided by your local Flexicare representative.

This partnership has just taken a major step forward with the launch of The Bill Mapleson Centre, a new State-of-Art Centre for medical training and product testing at Flexicare’s HQ in South Wales.

The Centre is named after the famous Professor Mapleson, who classified breathing systems in his British Journal of Anaesthesia paper in 1954 and went on to have significant achievements related to pharmacokinetics and ventilators.

At a major ceremony on 22nd May, Professor Mapleson was there to celebrate the opening in the presence of dignitaries such as the Health Minister, Mark Drayford, Cardiff University Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Elizabeth Treasure and Professor Judith Hall from Cardiff University School of Medicine, joined by over 100 guests.

The Bill Mapleson Centre will provide:

State-of-the-Art Laboratory Facilities for equipment development and independent testing in a purpose built physics laboratory.
Medical Training Space with a Clinical Simulation Suite for undergraduate and postgraduate students to develop anaesthesia and intensive care skills using state of the art simulators in a clinical environment.

Many hospitals have traditionally used re-usable devices, but are they aware that single patient use could save them money and improve the care of their patients? To explain the benefits, Flexicare has produced a new animated video, illustrating the importance of Single Patient Use devices.

With over 1.7 million hospital acquired infections per year1 in the US alone, it’s important to raise awareness of single patient use medical devices, helping clinicians eliminate cross-infection and reduce risk. The video poses challenging questions and presents statistics regarding the benefits of using single patient use devices to enhance patient safety, in a fun and imaginative way.

According to the AAGBI, “Where appropriate, single-use disposable equipment will remove the difficulties of re-use and decontamination procedures. The use of such equipment is to be encouraged.”2

Flexicare offers a wide range of single patient use devices, including BritePro Solo, LarySeal, Anaesthesia Face Masks, ET Tubes, Breathing Systems, and much more.
